The symbols in the logo consist of the Flags of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Holy See in the shape of two hands jointly raised to the Creator in a plea for peace.
The olive branch in the middle symbolizes the fruit of peace, granted by God Most High as the two different nations encounter each other in the spirit of human fraternity and goodwill.
In the logo, the words “Pope Francis” are coloured in blue to denote that the Papal Journey is entrusted to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title “Our Lady of Arabia”, the patroness of the Cathedral, gift of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Catholic church in the country.
The common origin of the two hands points to the truth of the common humanity of the nations and witnesses that they are truly brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of God Most High. The hands are also open, demonstrating the commitment of the nations to encounter each other in a spirit of openness, free from prejudices, as “brothers and sisters”, giving the sign of a fraternal encounter to the world.
The fruit of the fraternal encounter is the gift of peace, concretely witnessed through life-giving works and is symbolized by the olive branch which is depicted as full of life. The branch also demonstrates their earnest desire to spread the fruit of peace in an increasingly fragmented world.
